API Care and Counselling, the community outreach arm of the Asian Pastoral Institute (API), is proud to organise this workshop for the second time on evidence-based strategies to reduce cognitive decline.

BACKGROUND

Dementia is a growing mental health problem in Singapore, and its impact on the individual, family and community is significant. Fortunately, research has increasingly shown that simple changes to daily habits can reduce the risk of developing dementia in older adults. These strategies span the spiritual, physical, emotional, intellectual, and social domains of life.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT TO LEARN?

  • The features of dementia and how it develops
  • Common medical and psychological interventions that slow its progress
  • Practical strategies that healthy people can use to prevent dementia in themselves and their elderly relatives and friends
