API Care and Counselling, the community outreach arm of the Asian Pastoral Institute (API), is proud to organise this workshop on helping children to build resilience in the modern world today.

BACKGROUND

Bullying in primary schools and on social media are a growing concern. However, some children are more susceptible to experiencing increased anxiety, low moods and poor self-esteem as a result. What makes some children more resilient in the face of such social challenges? This workshop uses an evidence-based approach to answer this vital question, and provides parents, caregivers, and teachers with practical tips to support primary school children.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

DR MATTHEW LIM, D.PHIL (OXFORD), PH.D (UCL)

Dr Matthew Lim completed his specialist training in child and adolescent mental health services. This has given him the experience of working with high-risk individuals with severe emotion regulation difficulties, and children and adolescents with mood and anxiety concerns. Matthew also completed his training in the social service sector, offering individual consultancy and group workshops to foster parents. His clinical and consultancy work has been informed by behavioural, cognitive, systemic and attachment ideas. He is currently working in a tertiary mental health clinic and teaches clinical psychology in a local university.
