DESCRIPTION:API Care and Counselling is happy to organise this workshop to help participants learn about long-term effects of trauma and how to create a supportive environment for individuals with such experiences \n \nWe invite you to an exploration of the intricate interplay between early life experiences and adult mental wellness. Through this workshop\, we will unravel the profound impact of childhood family dysfunction and traumatic events such as abuse and neglect\, shedding light on their enduring effects well into adulthood. Drawing upon robust research findings and compelling case studies\, attendees will gain insights into the underlying mechanisms that link childhood trauma to heightened susceptibility to emotional\, behavioural\, and social challenges in later life. \nBy the workshop’s conclusion\, participants will be better equipped with a foundational understanding of the links between childhood adversity and adult well-being. He is a registered practitioner psychologist and clinical supervisor with the Singapore Psychological Society. \n  \nMs. Jacinda Tan\nMA (Applied Psychology)\, BA Hons (Social Science) in Social Work \n \nJacinda has worked in the social service sector for more than 15 years and has been engaged in both children and youth work. Her rehabilitation and protection work has covered youth-at-risk\, protection of children\, offending youths and adults\, including those with mental illness. SUMMARY:Be the LIGHT: Crisis Support for Young Children 4-6 (BTL-YC) Blended Training
DESCRIPTION:API Care and Counselling is happy to organise this workshop to help participants learn strategies to teach children skills to manage distress. \n \nThis course equips adults with a framework to support young children (3 to 6 years old) in the days to weeks after a crise. As part of the framework\, adults will learn strategies to teach children skills to manage distress. All participants will receive an e-certificate from KKH’s Psychosocial Trauma Support Services (PTSS) unit. \nLearning Objectives\nFor adults to provide support to young children (4 to 6 years old) after crisis events through: \n\nAcquiring background knowledge relevant to providing crisis support\nLearning and applying crisis support framework:\n\n\nListen Actively\nIdentify Risk\nGive Information and Hope\nHelp with Coping Skills\nTalk about Support Options\n\n\nFramework includes strategies for classroom management and individual support post-crisis\n\n\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\nWho Should Attend\n\nPreschool staff (E.g.\, Early childhood educators\, Learning Support Educators)\nCommunity professionals (E.g.\, Social workers\, Counsellors)\nA Mental health background is not necessary\n\n\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\nTraining Requirements\n\nPre-workshop self-paced online learning (approximately 210 min) – login details will be provided you 1 month before the event.
