SUMMARY:Be the LIGHT: Crisis Support for Young Children 4-6 (BTL-YC) Blended Training
DESCRIPTION:API Care and Counselling is happy to organise this workshop to help participants learn strategies to teach children skills to manage distress. \n \nThis course equips adults with a framework to support young children (3 to 6 years old) in the days to weeks after a crise. As part of the framework\, adults will learn strategies to teach children skills to manage distress. All participants will receive an e-certificate from KKH’s Psychosocial Trauma Support Services (PTSS) unit. \nLearning Objectives\nFor adults to provide support to young children (4 to 6 years old) after crisis events through: \n\nAcquiring background knowledge relevant to providing crisis support\nLearning and applying crisis support framework:\n\n\nListen Actively\nIdentify Risk\nGive Information and Hope\nHelp with Coping Skills\nTalk about Support Options\n\n\nFramework includes strategies for classroom management and individual support post-crisis\n\n\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\nWho Should Attend\n\nPreschool staff (E.g.\, Early childhood educators\, Learning Support Educators)\nCommunity professionals (E.g.\, Social workers\, Counsellors)\nA Mental health background is not necessary\n\n\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\nTraining Requirements\n\nPre-workshop self-paced online learning (approximately 210 min) – login details will be provided you 1 month before the event. Please complete this segment at your own time by 10 Oct to 16 Nov 2026\nAttend a full day face-to-face training on 28 Nov 2026\, 9.00am – 5.30pm at API\, 20 Aljunied Road Singapore 389805\nScore at least 80% in a post-course quiz and complete a course evaluation form within 2 weeks after the face-to-face training\nParticipants will need to commit to delivering the crisis support framework to 3 children (does not need to be clients)\n\n\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\nAbout the Speakers\nMs. Eileen Boey\nMEd (Educational Leadership in Practice)\, BA (Early Childhood Education) \n \nEileen is an early childhood leader with specialised training in crisis support for young children. She has taught across all age groups and advanced to training and mentoring leaders from diverse backgrounds. With more than 15 years of experience in curriculum\, quality assurance\, and trauma-informed practice\, Eileen has supported educators and families in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
