DESCRIPTION:API Care and Counselling is happy to organise this workshop to help participants learn good communication skills to increase marital satisfaction\nGood communication increases marital satisfaction and helps to build deep bonds in a marriage. Compared to other relationships\, good communication in marriages not only increases marital satisfaction but builds deep bonds. It also fosters trust\, understanding\, and emotional intimacy on a much deeper level. However\, achieving good communication in marriage can be challenging. Couples may face barriers such as differences in communication styles\, past unresolved conflicts\, and external stressors that can hinder effective communication. It requires effort\, patience\, and a willingness to actively listen and understand each other’s perspectives \nLEARNING OBJECTIVES \nThis workshop aims to help married couples maintain a strong and happy marriage through: \n\nUnderstanding the cost and benefits of communication and intimacy in marriage\nEnhancing communication skills to meet each other’s needs and navigate conflicts\nCultivating various aspects of intimacy in marriage\n\n\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\nWho Should Attend\n\nMarried couples who wish to strengthen their relationship\, improve communication\, and deepen their emotional connection\nNewlyweds who want to establish healthy foundation for their marriage\nCouples experiencing communication difficulties\, conflicts\, or challenges in their marriage and seek guidance on how to overcome them\nPremarital couples who want to learn effective communication skills to navigate potential conflicts\nIndividuals who are interested in improving their communication skills and understanding of intimacy with their partners\n\nAbout the Speakers\nDr. Steven Tham Chee Kin\n\nPhD (Psychology)\, MSocSc (Counselling)\n\n \nSteven’s 20 years of counselling experience covers a variety of issues such as marital and family conflicts\, sexuality issues\, work stress\, anxiety\, depression\, and grief. He provides clinical supervision to lead counsellors and senior counsellors\, and is a registered counsellor and clinical supervisor with the Singapore Association for Counselling. Steven celebrated his 31st wedding anniversary this year and has 3 adult children. \n  \n\nMs. Angeline Yap\n\nMA (Counselling and Community Work)\n \nAngeline is currently working as a counsellor at a private hospital. During and after her counselling practicums in various community agencies and a nursing home\, she has worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures. She has counselled on multiple issues\, including depression\, anxiety\, stress\, sleep disturbances\, grief\, addiction\, relationships\, and self development.
