SUMMARY:WORKSHOP: MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID
DESCRIPTION:API Care and Counselling\, the community outreach arm of the Asian Pastoral Institute (API)\, is proud to organise this workshop on applying mental health first aid and helping others in crisis for the second time.\n\n\nBACKGROUND\nCOVID-19 has significantly increased the risk of mental health problems in the community. In this period of greater psychological needs in families and the community\, equipping yourself with mental health first aid enables you to provide help to someone who may be developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis. Your help can make a difference in someone’s life. \nWHAT SHOULD I EXPECT TO LEARN?\n\nRecognise signs and symptoms of common mental health problems in adults\, e.g. depression & anxiety\nProvide initial help before professional help is available\n\nWHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR?\n\nVolunteers and peer supporters\nParents\, relatives and friends concerned for people they know\n\nABOUT THE SPEAKER\n \nDR. EILEEN CHUA \, PHD\, MA (APPLIED PSYCHOLOGY)\, MA (PASTORAL STUDIES) \nDr Eileen Chua has over 15 years of counselling and social work experience working with individuals and families in the community\, school and hospital setting. She has handled cases on mental health issues\, family violence\, marital and family issues\, youth issues\, and grief and loss issues. She also provided clinical supervision to social workers and counsellors in the various settings. She conducts workshops in institutions and the community on areas such as\, stress management\, mental health first-aid\, communication and conflict management. \nShe is a Registered Social Worker with the Singapore Association of Social Workers and a member of the Singapore Association for Counselling and Singapore Psychological Society. \n\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n PARTICIPANTS’ FEEDBACK FROM FIRST RUN OF WORKSHOP\n“Trainer is well versed and very experienced.
