DESCRIPTION:API Care and Counselling\, the community outreach arm of the Asian Pastoral Institute (API)\, is proud to organise this workshop on applying mental health first aid and helping others in crisis.\n  \nBACKGROUND\nMental health problems can affect anyone in their lifetime. Equipping yourself with mental health first aid enables you to provide help to someone who may be developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis. Your help can make a difference in someone’s life. \n  \nWHAT SHOULD I EXPECT TO LEARN? \n\nSigns and symptoms of common mental health problems in adults\, e.g. depression & anxiety\nWays to provide initial help before professional help is available\nInformation on various professional help for the person in need\n\n  \n WHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR? \n\nVolunteers and peer supporters\nParents\, relatives and friends concerned for people they know\n\n  \nABOUT THE SPEAKER\n \nDR EILEEN CHUA\, PH.D\, MA (APPLIED PSYCHOLOGY)\, MA (PASTORAL STUDIES)\n\n\n\n\nDr Eileen Chua holds a PhD\, MA (Applied Psychology) and MA (Pastoral Studies) and has over 15 years of counselling and social work experience working with individuals and families in the community\, school and hospital setting. She is a Registered Social Worker with the Singapore Association of Social Workers and a member of the Singapore Association for Counselling and Singapore Psychological Society. \n\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n								\n\n\n\n\n  \n PARTICIPANTS’ FEEDBACK\n“Trainer is well versed and very experienced.
