SUMMARY:Online Workshop: Communicating with Confidence for Success
DESCRIPTION:API Care and Counselling\, the community outreach arm of the Asian Pastoral Institute (API)\, is proud to organise this workshop to help you understand your own communication style at home and in the workplace.\n\nCommunication is an essential part of our lives at home and at work. There is a need to convey ideas\, instructions\, and thoughts to others around us including our loved ones\, colleagues\, bosses\, and subordinates. Everyone aspires to have harmony at home\, and to be recognized and appreciated at work. However\, these aspirations do not always come naturally to most of us\, especially when we get stuck in repeated and poor communication patterns. \nIn this workshop you will understand communication styles based on prominent psychological theories. You will also get the opportunity to discover your preferred communication style\, and acquire some practical conversational skills through in-class role plays to improve your communication effectiveness. \nWHAT PARTICIPANTS SHOULD EXPECT TO LEARN\n\nLearning about different communication styles\nA greater awareness of your own communication patterns\nSkills in using different communication styles to engage others effectively\n\nWHO SHOULD ATTEND\n\nPeople who often encounter communication breakdowns with others\nPeople who want to strengthen and improve their communication with family members\, colleagues\, and friends\n\nABOUT THE SPEAKER\nLIM ENG CHUAN\n \nOver the last ten years\, Eng Chuan has counselled families with problems of child raising and couples with marital issues. Although couples may be successful in their careers\, they sometimes struggle to stay married. His work has taken him to India\, China and various South-East Asian countries. He has also lived three years in the United Kingdom. Through this experience\, he is well able to appreciate both Eastern and Western cultures. Eng Chuan is an ACTA certified trainer who has a Master in Business Administration from the University of Strathclyde\, UK. He is now an adjunct lecturer of this MBA programme.
