DESCRIPTION:API Care and Counselling\, the community outreach arm of the Asian Pastoral Institute (API)\, is proud to organise this event in partnership with the South East CDC to raise rice and oatmeal for the needy living in the South East district.\n\n\nJOIN US!\nThis is the third year API Care & Counselling is organising this event to raise rice and oatmeal for the needy living in the South East district. Rice and oatmeal raised are sponsored by FairPrice. However\, due to COVID-19\, there will not be a mass walk. Instead\, participants will form groups of 5 people to either walk or run to clock the distance (with safe management measures observed). So\, start inviting your friends\, colleagues and neighbours to do good together! \nHOW DO I RAISE RICE AND OATMEAL?\n\nFor every 300m walked/run\, 1 bowl of white rice\, 1 bowl of brown rice and 1 bowl of oatmeal will be raised.\nThere is no minimum or maximum distance required.\nIt will be a collective effort under API Care & Counselling.\n\nIS THERE ANY AGE RESTRICTION?\n\nThere is no age restriction. Fortunately\, research has increasingly shown that simple changes to daily habits can reduce the risk of developing dementia in older adults. In this period of greater psychological needs in families and the community\, equipping yourself with mental health first aid enables you to provide help to someone who may be developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis. Your help can make a difference in someone’s life. \nWHAT SHOULD I EXPECT TO LEARN?\n\nRecognise signs and symptoms of common mental health problems in adults\, e.g. depression & anxiety\nProvide initial help before professional help is available\n\nWHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR?\n\nVolunteers and peer supporters\nParents\, relatives and friends concerned for people they know\n\nABOUT THE SPEAKER\n \nDR. EILEEN CHUA \, PHD\, MA (APPLIED PSYCHOLOGY)\, MA (PASTORAL STUDIES) \nDr Eileen Chua has over 15 years of counselling and social work experience working with individuals and families in the community\, school and hospital setting. She has handled cases on mental health issues\, family violence\, marital and family issues\, youth issues\, and grief and loss issues. She also provided clinical supervision to social workers and counsellors in the various settings. This has given him the experience of working with high-risk individuals with severe emotion regulation difficulties\, and children and adolescents with mood and anxiety concerns. Matthew also completed his training in the social service sector\, offering individual consultancy and group workshops to foster parents. His clinical and consultancy work has been informed by behavioural\, cognitive\, systemic and attachment ideas.
