DESCRIPTION:API Care and Counselling is happy to organise this workshop to help participants explore the differences between mindfulness and contemplative practices\, and delve into the spiritual roots of contemplative meditation\nOver the last decade\, mental health services have promoted meditation for self-care\, but these practices do not typically include Christian contemplative meditation. In this workshop\, led by a pastor and a clinical psychologist\, participants will explore the differences between mindfulness and contemplative practices\, and delve into the spiritual roots of contemplative meditation. \nThe workshop offers practical skills for integrating contemplation into daily self-care routines and uncovers its profound benefits for spiritual formation. She teaches courses including Systematic Theology\, Survey of Church History\, and Foundations for Spiritual Disciplines at the Asian Pastoral Institute. May Eng has also published in various theological journals like the Journal of Asian Evangelical Theology and Church & Society in Asia and is the centre pastor of the Crystal Tabernacle. \n  \n\nDr. Matthew Lim\n\nDClinPsy (Clinical Psychology)\, DPhil\, GradDip (Pastoral Studies)\n\n \nMatthew has worked in inpatient and outpatient public mental health services and has supported adults with severe emotional and social difficulties and a history of childhood adversities. He is a registered practitioner psychologist and clinical supervisor with the Singapore Psychological Society.
