DESCRIPTION:API Care and Counselling\, the community outreach arm of the Asian Pastoral Institute (API)\, is happy to organise this course to help couples who are contemplating or preparing to get married or wish to strengthen their marriage foundation.\nUNIQUENESS OF THE COURSE\nOverview\nWorkshops in this course will be taught by a multidisciplinary team of professionals from varied disciplines including counselling\, psychology\, and social work\, and are qualified in their respective fields of study. All senior instructors of the course have at least 15 years of experience in helping couples prepare for marriage. \nTo increase the realism and practical usefulness of the course\, some seminars are facilitated by trainers and their spouses. This allows for both the husband’s and wife’s perspectives to be brought to the discussion. \nPersonality Profiling\nCouples undergo a psychometric Taylor-Johnson Temperament Analysis (TJTA)\, followed by a one-hour counselling feedback session with a qualified counsellor.\nThis assessment helps couples better understand each other’s strengths and growth areas\, and this self-understanding complements the material covered in the three-day pre-marital counselling workshop. \n  \nWHO SHOULD ATTEND\nThe course is suitable for couples contemplating or preparing to get married. He is a registered counsellor\, psychologist\, and supervisor with both the Singapore Association for Counselling and the Singapore Psychological Society. \nDr. Steven Tham Chee Kin\nPhD (Psychology)\, MSocSc (Counselling)\, MDiv\, MA (Biblical Studies)\nWith 20 years of counselling experience\, He is a registered counsellor and clinical supervisor with the Singapore Association for Counselling. \nMr. Joseph Chan\nEdD (studies)\, Master (Social Work)\, MA (Pastoral Studies)\, GradDip (Social Work)\nJoseph has worked as a social worker for more than 20 years. He is currently reading a Doctor of Education in Community Care and Counselling at Liberty University. \nMs. Tay Swee Hong\nMaster (Counselling)\, BDiv\nSwee Hong was a part-time senior counsellor at a local university. \nMr. David Ho\nMA (Counselling & Community Work)\, MA (Pastoral Studies)\nDavid is a qualified counsellor volunteering with several Family Service Centres\, and has counselled married couples on family issues. \nMr. Jeffrey Chin\nMA (Counselling & Community Work)\, MA (Pastoral Studies)\nJeffrey is a qualified counsellor at a private counselling centres \n  \nTESTIMONIALS\n“[This course] has taken us through the key building blocks of a successful marriage.
